Buccaneers v Isle of Wight(Challenge)
A dominant Bournemouth Buccaneers side roared through their first home meeting to record a stunning 64 – 29 victory and leave the Isle of Wight Islanders well and truly standard in this Wave 105FM challenge.
But this one sided result does little to reflect the standard of racing in what was a very entertaining meeting. Every heat produced some great racing with plenty of overtaking, as the two young sides put on a very competitive display to the delight of the fans. "I thought we rode extremely well " said Buccaneers team manager Garry May " And we came through with flying colours. Every one in the side got stuck in and scored points. I am really pleased for them all. Jay Herne and Mark Baseby were outstanding and led the way with some great race wins, while Jerran Hart would have scored more but for a fall in his last ride.I really don't want to pick out one rider as it really was great all round team performance." Herne recored a perfect paid maximum and Kyle Newman went unbeaten after his first ride disqualification. Mark Baseby dropped his only point to Tom Brown as the Buccaneers proved that too much for their Solent rivals.
