Bournemouth Castle Cover Buccaneers comprehensively overcame 3rd placed Plymouth to power themselves to top of the table with their biggest league victory of the season, 62-33. The bouyant Buccaneers were no match for the Devonshire side who only twice managed to outpoint the home side in the 15 heats and on both occassions the visitors were deploying the double point advantage.
On an all-round solid team performance it seems harsh to single out any stars but the brilliance of Mark Baseby's 15 point maximum is worthy of credit. The knee-braced Baseby was in immaculate form, matched by skipper Jay Herne's unbeaten four ride performance whilst Jerran Hart would have joined them on the unbeaten table if he hadn't had suffered a last bend engine failure whilst leading heat 7. Hart though managed to limp over the line in 3rd behind partner Newman who had another horror night mechanically wise.
