Andrew Aldridge and fellow New Zealander Grant Tregoning (guesting for Jay Herne) set Bournemouth back on the road to the top of the National Development League as the Buccaneers swiftly took revenge on the Buxton Hitmen, the side that upset their unbeaten league performance last Sunday. Bournemouth, who besides having Herne unavailable also had to utilise rider replacement for Mark Baseby who was still suffering with back pains after his crash in the Best Pairs earlier in the week, ran out 62-32 as Buxton lost the services of inspirational reserve Craig Cook through illness. Cook had stormed to a clear win in his first ride and second time on track was on a double points ride and heading towards a second victory when Kyle Newman closed him down and took advantage of Cook zig-zagging off the final turn. The necessity for Buxton to deploy the tactical option was mainly due to the Kiwi combination of Aldridge and Tregoning who twice combined for valuable 5-1's in the space of the first 6 heats. With Kyle Newman and Aaron Baseby also collecting maximum points in an awarded heat after Hodgson had fallen awkwardly the Buccaneers always looked in control and Cook's withdrawal left the Hitmen with few options to get back into the meeting. Aldridge who has blossomed in recent weeks notched 5 wins from his six outings, beaten only by Ben Taylor in heat 3, whilst Kyle Newman was unbeaten in his five rides despite having to switch equipment when his trusty stead packed up as he was preparing or heat 11. Beaten by the 2 minutes and with Taylor on a tactical ride the Buccaneers couldn't risk a handicap start so called on Hart to take the ride from scratch position on that occasion, the Bournemouth reserve inflicting defeat on Taylor to square the heat score at 4 each. Number 8 Jon Resch was allocated one of the rider replacement rides and the youngster duly delivered his first ever National Development League race win to a standing ovation. In the end the Buccaneers won the meeting with plenty in hand to retain their 100% home record Bournemouth G.Tregoning 2',2',X,3=7+2 A.Aldridge 3,1',3,3,3,3= 16+1 D.Warwick 2,2,2',1=7+1 R/R (AA,JH,KN) K.Newman 3,3,3,Mx,2',2'=13+2 A.Baseby 1',2',1,1=5+2 J.Hart 2,R,1,2',3 ,3=11+1 J.Resch 3=3 Buxton B.Taylor 1,3,3,4^,1,1 =13 L.Dallaway F,1,1,0=2 R/R (BT,CC,SJ,GI) = G.Isherwood 0,0,2,2,2,R=6 S.James 1,1,1,1',0 =4+1 C.Cook 3,4^=7 - Withdrawn due to illness D.Hodgson 0,Fx,R ,R,R,0,N=0 Referee Ms Christina Turnbull Gates 2+4 Buxton win toss; Heat 15 + win toss 1.
