Bournemouth Buccaneers suffered their second league defeat of the season as Plymouth Devils gained some revenge over the Buccaneers who earlier had dumped them out of the K.O.Cup. With Bournemouth missing their influential 'J-H Bomb' factor over Jay Herne and Jerran Hart, both of whom had Premier league engagements they couldn't get out of the Devils rocked the Buccaneers from the very off with two 5-1 heat advantages in the first four races. Indeed the Buccaneers had to wait until heat 12 before they could boast a race winner and that came from the highly impressive Kyle Newman who was wearing the black and white colour which meant his three points were doubled to six and with Aaron Baseby making a telling first lap pass finishing second the visitors netted a massive 8-1 to make a big dent in the 14 point deficit halving it to just 7. That left them with some hope that they could still come away from the Saint Boniface Arena with something for their efforts if they could gain another heat advantage, although with Seemond Stephens and Kyle Hughes both likely contenders for a heat 15 outing as at that stage they were both unbeaten it appeared a monumental task A heat gain looked most unlikely in heat 14 when Jon Resch appeared harshly treated with a disqualification when he moved upsides of David Gough on the second lap. But in a bizarre twist to the re-run leader Seemond Stephens locked up and fell allowing Aaron Baseby to take the flag ahead of the only other finisher Gough for a 3-2 advantage to the Buccaneers. Although victory was beyond them that valuable league point for a 6 or less defeat was still hovering and although Hughes went on to complete his perfect 6 ride maximum for the Devils solid team riding from Tregoning and man of the match Newman ensured that Bournemouth's league tally would be increased by a further point Plymouth 59 R/R (KH,DG,SS,PS) P.Starke 2',3,3,1,F,0=9+1 M.Bates Fx =0 Withdrew injured hand S.Stephens 3,3,3,3,F =12 K.Hughes 3,3,3,3,3,3 =18 Maximum J.Dingle 0,0,F,0,1=1 D.Gough 3,2',0,0,2',0,2 =9+2 B.Reade Did not ride (named number 8) Bournemouth G.Tregoning 0,1',2,2,2 = 7+1 A.Aldridge 1,2,2,1' = 6+1 K.Newman 2,2,2,6^,1' =13+1 M.Baseby 1',1',Fx = 2+2 D.Warwick 1,2,1,1' =5+1 A.Baseby 2,0,1',2',3=8+2 J.Resch 1',1',Fx,Fx = 2+2 Referee: Jim Lawrence Gates: 2+4 Bournemouth won toss 1.
