Bournemouth Make it Nine From Nine
It was a comprehensive victory over Rye House Cobras that saw Bournemouth complete their scheduled home league programme maintaining a 100% record to become the first team to complete their home matches without conceding a league point to any opposition. Only Weymouth can match that but the Buccaneers stand in their way on September 18th when the two sides meet at the Wessex Stadium.
In acknowledging the massive win, masterminded by superb maximum performances from Jay Herne, Kyle Newman and Danny Warwick, it should be noted that the Cobras could argue that they had more than their fair share of misfortune. Hampered by a 28 day ban imposed on Lee Strudwick for alleged violent conduct at Scunthorpe recently the Cobras were forced into operating rider replacement for him and then had number one Daniel Halsey being involved in a nasty crash in heat one when leading. Halsey lost control and was veering across the track directly in the path of Andrew Aldridge who had no time to take evasive action. Both riders were able to walk away, albeit gingerly, from the crash although Halsey was forced to withdraw after just one more ride and Aldridge, also having just cause to claim that Lady Luck wasn't on his side as he sustained over £1000 damage to his bike.
The Buccaneers though rapidly strung together a sequence of heat advantages, with all riders starring, seeing off a tactical ride from Rob Smith when Jay Herne saw him home. Smith then found himself leading heat 9 when he lost control and fell but remounted for the point as the Buccaneers accelerated their victory.Rye's second tactical use also had similar consequences, Hart this time seeing off Jamie Courtney.
Such was Bournemouth's dominance that the visitors had to wait until heat 14 before they could provide a race winner then Smith made it two from two by winning heat 15 which saw Aaron Baseby and Jon Resch the unlikely candidates nominated by the team who had blended perfectly once again.
