Bournemouth Castle Cover Buccaneers showed their Dorset neighbours Weymouth no mercy as they dealt out another Wimborne Road thrashing to put themselves in the driving seat for a place in the National Development League Championship final.
No fewer than four of the seven Buccaneers registered paid maximums in the 63-30 beating of the Wildcats with Jay Herne continuing his great home form. The Bournemouth skipper has now made it 27 consecutive Wimborne Road rides without being beaten by an opponent and he was joined in the big pay out night by Danny Warwick, Mark Baseby and Jerran Hart. Added to that impressive foursome was Kyle Newman's statistic that each race he completed the full four laps in he was unbeaten but a fall whilst leading heat 7 and a retirement at the start of heat 8 left a couple of blots on the Poole youngster's copybook.
The Wildcats who endured a disastrous start to the meeting when both Terry Day and Benji Compton were disqualified for separate occasions in meeting the two-minute time allowances and had to field reserves Lee Smethills and James White-Williams in the opening heat, will have left Wimborne Road thankful that both Andrew Aldridge and Aaron Baseby had below standard performances for the Buccaneers, for otherwise the margin of defeat could have been even greater. Not too much went Compton's way all evening and they also saw Tim Webster taking a very heavy crash in heat 10, although it is believed that the injuries were not as bad as first feared, with Webster declining a visit to the local hospital.
Weymouth only claimed one heat advantage across the 15 heats, but even that was jinxed as the race was stopped and awarded before Lee Smethills could slow up early enough to allow tactical rider Terry Day in for a maximum 6 points..
Bournemouth's demolition really began in the very next heat with and recorded six maximum heat scores in the final 7 heats.
