Bournemouth Buccaneers v USA Dream Team
Bournemouth Realise the Dream
The Bournemouth Buccaneers comfortably overcame the US Dream Team in this challenge fixture but the fixture could easily have proved to have been a nightmare as, ahead of some crucial meetings for the double chasing Buccaneers they incurred some nasty crashes on the way. Miraculously Danny Warwick quickly walked away from a head first plunge over the fourth turn safety fence when racing at full hilt in heat 10 and then in the very next heat Andrew Aldridge was thrown from his bike down the back straight and somersaulted along the track whilst his machine ploughed onto the centre green. Although, thankfully, the Poole reserve (for October) was soon on his feet his bike took the brunt of the damage and was declared a write-off at the scene of the incident. Kyle Newman was next to hit the deck when he veered across the track in heat 12 right in the patch of Eddie Castro and team-mate Aaron Baseby. All these incidents came when Bournemouth had built up a 24 point lead and the resulting disqualications enabled the Dream Time to trim back the deficit marginally. Mainly due to the fact that Warwick's incident came when Ingalis was being used as a tactical rider (on double points) unable though to prevent maximum man Jay Herne from adding to his impressive unbeaten Wimborne Road sequence. Bournemouth went on to record a 60-31 win over the Statesiders and now face Weymouth on Friday in the second leg of the semi-final play-offs where they defend a 33 point lead but will not have Jerran Hart available and then make the cup final first leg trip to Buxton on Sunday.
